The team, which specializes in evaluating suspected weapons of mass destruction and other hazards, was one of several Guard units requested by civilian authorities to participate in the public safety effort for – and in advance of – Super Bowl 45. Team members sometimes operate out of standard military uniform at the request of civilian agencies. The 6th CST has a long record of partnering with civilian emergency response agencies.
